RINGWOOD, NJ, UNITED STATES, September 13, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Through outreach efforts led by netWell and Bob Malone, its president and CEO, a New Jersey widower and father facing Stage IV lung cancer has been connected with The Valley Hospital in Paramus, N.J., where he has been accepted for treatment scheduled to begin in late September. The hospital has agreed to provide his care pro bono.— Bob Malone
Jamie, 54, is raising three children following the recent death of his wife from cancer. After receiving his own diagnosis, he faced financial and personal barriers that complicated his access to continued treatment. When netWell President and CEO Bob Malone learned about the family’s circumstances, he and his wife contacted Jamie and arranged to meet with him. Their conversation revealed Jamie’s need for help understanding his care options and connecting with a medical team. Malone then reached out to contacts in his healthcare network. Those efforts helped connect Jamie with The Valley Hospital and arrange his acceptance as a new patient.
“Part of netWell’s greater mission is to serve the communities around us,” said Malone. “In Jamie’s case, that meant listening, reaching out, and helping connect him with people who could provide the care he needed. We are grateful to The Valley Hospital for accepting him and making that care possible.”
Jamie is not a netWell member. The assistance reflects the organization’s broader charitable efforts to support people in need within the community. Alongside the care connection, charitable contributions from netWell and its members provided a one-time gift to help with rent, groceries, and other immediate needs. Jamie was also connected with local resources to assist with applications for financial and food assistance.
As Jamie prepares to begin treatment at The Valley Hospital, he and his three children are also navigating life after the loss of his wife. netWell invites the community to keep the family in their prayers and offer encouragement as they face the difficult months ahead.
